Who says the bride always need to wear white? The eclectic nature of Las Vegas weddings is one of the reasons this is such a perfect place for intimate weddings. Stay true to who you are as Nicole and Edwin did, high up in the sky, at their High Roller wedding at the Linq observation wheel. These two have so much love to share along with stunning city views. They were joined by a small group of friends and family all the way from South Africa. There were tears, kisses, hugs, and more kisses at this emotional and sweet Vegas wedding. Following the ceremony, they held an intimate reception for their guests at The Venetian.
How did the two of you meet?
Edwin and I met by chance at a music gig at a venue in Johannesburg. He came up to me and said ‘Hello’ and we didn’t stop chatting until I hopped into my Uber muchhhhhhhhh later that night.
Why did you choose Las Vegas/ The High Roller?
Neither of us ever thought that we were the marrying kind and the traditional wedding just didn’t feel true to who we are as people. Traveling is my great passion in life so we decided to spend the wedding money on a trip around America and get married on purpose in a place where most people get married by accident – VEGAS BABY! We didn’t, however, want it to be too kitch or cheesy (think Elvis), we still wanted it to be special so we decided on-top of Vegas with a fabulous view would do it!
Tell us about your favorite part of the day.
Edwin’s vows. I was blown away (so much so that I totally blanked when I had to say mine).
Any advice to other couples planning a wedding in Vegas from abroad?
Just do it! Make sure you plan ahead enough so that the people that you want by your side have enough time to save to be with you on the day.
What were you looking for when choosing your photographer?
Our wedding took place just as the sun was setting so it was important for us that the photographer had experience in capturing photos in that type of lighting at that time of day. We also wanted a photographer that could capture the ‘moments’ – that knew what to look for and capture sincere moments when we weren’t aware that the camera was snapping.
